We found this article whilst detecting on a beach in southport,U.K.
we have found out by Jewllers, that it is BRASS and has a small stamp either, MANUFACTURERS or some kind of number. however it is UNREADABLE. the jewellers seemed excited about the artifact, although it not being jewellry.
MAYBE MARITIME INSTRUMENT COMPONANT.....possibly a pointer.
ANYBODY WITH ANY IDEAS?????????? PLEASE HELP(//)
not that im an expert where pubs are concerned , but could it be a coat hook from underneath a bar?
it looks like it was screwed to something with the point upwards

Yes its a furniture carpet fitment, before the days of fitted carpets they had thin poles at the base of everystep to hold the carpets down, and the fitments were nailed in to hold the pole as the pole ran through them, 19th-20th century :)
Hi all,
I found one of these some weeks ago and as mentioned it's purpose is for carpet fitting.
Cheers - Dave
