Title: The Tobermory Treasure Galleon
Post by: Phantom_Major on July 27, 2008, 18:44:11 PM
Our spies tell us that the Duke of Argyll is still attempting to locate and salvage the The Tobermory Treasure Galleon (https://www.detecting.org.uk/html/Tobermory_Treasure_Galleon_Spanish_Armada_Scotland_1588.html)

I dug up some interesting sources from The Times newspaper on this long running seach, read about them here: Duke of Argyll's search for the Tobermory Treasure Galleon (https://www.detecting.org.uk/tobermory/index.html)

Contains information about the material recovered so far, including some details of a cannon recovered by one of the Duke's ancestors in 1740; "a French field piece carrying the device of Benvenuto Cellini."
