newbie needing some help!

hi all, this is my first post of many I hope! I was going to buy a garret 250 just to start to see if I like the hobby, I live in the west London area but cannot find a metal detecting shop in London, does anyone no of any shops in the west London area? I no I can buy online i.e., eBay, but I would rather buy from a shop and build a relationship with them. I have a permit from the crown estates to go onto beaches is there any other permits I need and any liability insurance? I would be grateful for your feedback and any advice you could give me, regards,

I am afraid I don't know of any metal detecting shops in west London.

You can get cheap public liability insurance by joining either the NCMD at http://www.ncmd.co.uk/ or the FID at http://www.fid.org.uk/ insurance is not compulsory but it is good to have.
