The advent of computerized metal detectors has opened a whole
new world to metal detectorists. Charles Garrett was awarded
a patent for a computerized metal detector as long ago as
1982, but it is only in the last few years that they have
really come into their own.
Garrett continues to produce computerized metal detectors
and several other manufacturers have entered the fray, most
notably Whites, Minelab and Fisher.
